Public input deserves more than lip service—MODS must commit to a transparent, accountable consultation process.
Council and staff spent months gathering public input for the Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS), yet much of that feedback—and even key recommendations from the Best Practices document—was quietly set aside. Now, just months later, MODS is launching another round of consultations for a new Planning Strategy. Why? What happened to the document that was already adopted?
This feels like déjà vu: another consultation, no clear process, and no explanation. Once again, the public is being asked to participate without any assurance that their input will be respected or used. Transparency isn’t optional—it’s foundational. MODS must stop asking for blind trust and start showing a clear, accountable framework for public engagement.
